After the Flag Parade on Sunday, the work has started on the hall on Monday 26th April, with demolition from the inside. Here are some photos at the end of week one. Plasterboard taken from the roof and kitchen units ready to move.

The project has depended on volunteers, as we would otherwise have never managed to start.  Alan Parker took on the job of project manager.  The volunteers on this first part of the project were Calum and Vanessa MacLean, Jackie and Alan Parker and Nicola Beckett.  Andy McGrail was the paid helper.

By the end of the 2nd week, we had taken down the plasterboard on the walls, with Nicola Beckett making the whack with a lump hammer! She certainly made a good job too!

By the end of week 3, the lovely oak floor was taken up, sorted and advertised for donations. Calum started taking off the roofing felt, on a not so windy day, and I was finally allowed to use a sledgehammer!

Week 4

The floor has been lifted and prepared to advertise for donations.   Work also started on taking the roof off, bit by bit to save as much timber as possible.

Week 5

The roof removal now progressing well.  the flooring has been de nailed and any smaller pieces of timber saved for firewood.  Offers of donations being made for the timber.

Week 6

Roof almost gone as has most of the lovely oak flooring.  Some very generous donations being made.  A large quantity of floor going to Lochdon and Tobermory.

Week 7

Going going gone... the roof that is!  now its the turn of the walls.  We now had to sort out and make safe the power and water for future use on the site.  Chris Baker re organising the power ready for the Hydro inspection and re siting.  The concrete steps were built over the power line, so they had to be broken up and the power cable followed.

Week 8

The final elements to be removed required a more persuasive tool, so out came the mini digger.  The mess took some time to clear and sort out.  All the chipboard fragments are being composted under a layer of the soil yet to be removed.

Week 9

Time for a bigger digger and a bigger digger driver.  Enter Eddie O'Donnell.  Now the constructive work begins.  The brickwork is to be used in the foundations and new carpark.  Soil for donations and composting the chipboard pieces.
