Adult Ballet Classes

Since summer 2016, when Janine first ran an 8 week introductory adult ballet course at the Scout Hall, there have been regular adult ballet classes on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 8:30 pm and it has been brilliant to see how far this group of adults has progressed in such a short time.

Janine came to the island in 2012 and is a RAD registered dance teacher and DDMIX instructor who is passionate about bringing the benefits of dance-based exercise to adults of all ages and abilities across the island.

Ballet classes are mostly anaerobic, focusing on core strength, posture and flow of movement with a small aerobic section towards the end of class and don’t worry there are plenty of alternative options for anyone not able to jump.  Most people coming to class wear close fitting clothing such as leggings/shorts and a t-shirt and either bare feet or ballet shoes….no tutus required (although she generally has one in the boot of her car in case anyone feels so inclined).

Ballet classes are a great way of increasing strength and flexibility and of course having fun in an inclusive and encouraging environment.  For more details please see www.facebook.com/MullBallet.
